When the time comes to explore assisted living for someone you love, the last thing you want is a clinical building with long corridors and unfamiliar faces. You want a home, somewhere warm, safe, and genuinely caring, where your loved one is truly known and valued every single day.
That is exactly what Aurora Senior Care was created to be.
Located in Wasilla, Aurora Senior Care is a thoughtfully designed, residential assisted living home led by Kate Andrade, a Registered Nurse, and Joao Andrade, a CNA with a background in Physical Education with over a decade of clinical experience. Aurora Senior Care offers a smaller, home-based alternative to larger care settings, with all the warmth, consistency, and personal connection that word deserves.

Built by a Nurse.

Inspired by a Family.

Aurora Senior Care was founded by Kate Andrade, an Alaska Native, Registered Nurse, and daughter caring for her own father, who lives with dementia. Kate has spent more than ten years at Alaska Native Medical Center caring for patients from communities across Alaska and she has seen firsthand what can happen in larger care settings. Many larger nursing facilities may have one caregiver supporting 30 or more residents at a time. At Aurora Senior Care, our smaller home setting allows for a more personal approach, with approximately one caregiver for every five residents, helping ensure residents are truly known, seen, and cared for.

Kate built Aurora to be different. Smaller. More personal. Clinically sound and genuinely warm. A place where families can exhale.

Her husband Joao, a Certified Nursing Assistant and physical education professional, brings his expertise in mobility, movement, and whole-person wellness to complement Kate’s clinical leadership.

“I wanted to create the home I would want for my own father, a place where every resident is truly known, truly cared for, and truly at home.”

Kate Andrade, RN | Founder, Aurora Senior Care

Care That Is Built Around Your Loved One

At Aurora Senior Care, we offer a range of personalized services designed to support daily life, protect health, and nurture well-being all within the comfort and safety of a true home.

Wellness Monitoring

Aurora Senior Care will use CarePredictTM technology, smart monitoring that helps caregivers identify potential changes in a resident’s wellness, mobility, and daily patterns so care teams can respond appropriately.

Personalized Care Plans

Every resident arrives with a unique story. We build individualized care plans that honor their preferences, routines, and needs and adapt as those needs evolve over time.

Family Partnership

Families are part of the care team at Aurora. We prioritize transparent communication, regular updates, and virtual visit options via Zoom and video calling for families near and far.

Built by a Nurse.

Inspired by a Family.

Families researching assisted living often feel the same thing after touring large facilities, something is missing. The care may be adequate, but the warmth, the sense that their loved one truly belongs, is harder to find.

Aurora Senior Care was designed to be the answer to that feeling.

Small by Design

Our intimate setting means your loved one will never be one of dozens. They will have consistent caregivers who truly know them from their preferences and their routines to their life story, in an attentive environment designed around meaningful relationships.

RN-Led Every Day

Unlike many residential care homes, Aurora Senior Care is led by a Registered Nurse. That means clinical expertise, proactive health monitoring, and a higher standard of oversight are built into daily care not available only on request.

Transparency You Can Count On

We believe families never stop being caregivers. We keep you informed, involved, and confident with open communication, regular updates, and a genuine open-door policy.

A True Home

Home-cooked meals. Comfortable living spaces with private and semi-private rooms. Family-style dining. A peaceful residential home that feels exactly like what it is, warm, welcoming, and designed around the people who live there.

Clinically Credentialed

Kate holds CPR and First Aid certification, has completed training through the Residential Assisted Living Academy, and in 2024 was nominated for the DAISY Award, a nationally recognized honor for extraordinary nursing.

Rooted in the Mat-Su Valley

Aurora Senior Care is located in Wasilla, Alaska, a community we are proud to call home. Residents and families will benefit from peaceful, residential surroundings and close proximity to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center, ensuring that essential healthcare is never far away.
